DMX Output Point

A DMX output point

This demo implements the conversion of the DMX-related Copperlan messages into a DMX512 compliant electric signal.

Several settings and controls are available via the CopperLan Manager:

  • The maximum number of DMX channels recognized can be set from 1 to 512.
  • Each recognized channel can be named individually.
  • The DMX levels can be monitored and controlled via sliders.

Usage

This converter can receive its controls from multiple sources at once and can similarly be monitored from several places.
The Ethernet connection fits well with the need for long distance cabling.

CopperLan concepts implemented

  • Remote parameter editing
  • Processing of absolute and relative parameter update.

Variations

It is possible to create Sub-devices, each responsible of a number of DMX channels in order to group consecutive channels belonging to the same lighting equipment.
One could think of pre-set levels (pre-heating) that would be applied at power-on and acting as minimum levels.
